Members attend from across Teesdale and Swaledale, Darlington and district, and as far as North Yorkshire, Cumbria and Northumberland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We organise:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>meetings, trips and talks on historical subjects associated with Richard III and local medieval history:  \u201cRichard\u2019s College at Barnard Castle\u201d; \u201cMedieval Marriage\u201d; \u201cThe Order of the Golden Fleece\u201d; visits to Castle Bolton, Towton battlefield, and Richard\u2019s birthplace at Fotheringhay, amongst many others<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>group research &amp; encourage other Ricardian projects: the guidebook \u201cRichard III\u2019s North\u201d, a Richard III musical \u2013 &#8220;Lord of the North&#8221; &#8211; for Primary School children, a RIII Christmas Tree, and in 2024 commemorative etched glass windows in St Mary\u2019s Parish Church, Barnard Castle \u2013 \u201cWindows for the King\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our fundraising events and activities include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the Middleham Festival;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a medieval banquet;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>biennial Study Days open to all<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also enjoy meeting at our annual Christmas Meal and Summer Social<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Northern Dales Richard III Group was founded in 2013 in Barnard Castle after the timely discovery of the lost remains of Richard III in August 2012. &nbsp;Fresh interest and enthusiasm combined with well-established local Richard III connections drew together long-standing Ricardians as well as those newly fascinated by the recent events.
